We are less than 5 weeks away from the implementation of the New Missal here in the good ol’ United States, and I hope you are as excited as I am. Okay, maybe not as excited as I am. I’m actually thinking of throwing a party - yes, potluck and all. Mmmm, spinach dip.

Nevertheless, whether you are uber-excited, or you are still confused about the changes, I hope some of my excitement rubs off. In that regard, I have started a list of my 5 reasons for being excited about the Third Edition of The Roman Missal. Every week for the next five weeks I will be releasing a different reason, so keep an eye out.

For now, I leave you with this quote from one of my former professors and advisor to the Vatican’s Vox Clara Commission for the Congregation for Divine Worship, Father Jeremy Driscoll, OSB:

“Why are the translations important? […] Because  in the Liturgy a whole world is being entered, a different world than my mundane world. It is an encounter with mystery - the Divine reality is revealed and participated in.”
