In today’s Gospel, the two disciples of John the Baptist sought a Rabbi. They sought instruction, but they got so much more than a Rabbi, so much more than instruction. This is much the same idea that lies behind vocation. We seek what God wants for us to do. And once we say yes, once we echo the Psalmist who says, “Here am I, Lord; I come to do your will”, we get so much more than we could fathom. That is the beauty of God’s plan. We can never fully understand how big His dreams are for us. And as wonderful as that thought is, it doesn’t mean that we can be passive. We must take the plunge so to speak. We must present ourselves to Him. We must be willing to listen to what He has to say, to have the openness of Samuel. My prayer for you today, brothers and sisters, is that God may give you the grace and the strength to be open to His calling, whatever it may be and wherever it will lead you. And in light of our vocation video from yesterday, I ask that you do the same for me. God bless!
